Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Stars (1985)

The Lucky Stars return and quite frankly, I wasn’t sure I missed them. Sammo Hung and pals Stanley Fung, Eric Tsang, and Richard Ng return for more puerile comedy. They’re assigned to protect Rosamund Kwan because some bad guys are out to get her. Naturally, they spend time trying to grope her and sneak peeks at her in wet lingerie. Meanwhile, Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao, and Andy Lau fight people. Somehow the two gangs of stars intersect to take on Richard Norton and Yasuki Kurata. But first there’s some time out for Richard Ng to harass Michelle Yeoh (in a cameo as a judo instructor). Also, there’s an aborted romantic subplot involving Sammo Hung and Sibelle Hu, who’s returning from the first film as Miss Woo.
More or less the same as the first, but this sequel just isn’t as good, mainly because there isn’t enough fighting to make up for all the annoying antics. You don’t need fast-forward for this movie - you need chapter search. That said, the fighting in question is well-choreographed and fun, but wading through everything else to get to it can be trying. A who’s who walk-on of cameos rounds out the movie.
